Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro was not our original dinner plan, but sometimes the best travel stops happen when the first options fail. After a full day around Solingen and the historic streets of Altstadt Langenberg, we were hungry, tired, and very ready for a proper German currywurst. We checked several places, but everything seemed closed. The last option on the list was a bistro connected to a climbing forest. That sounded unusual, but also exactly the kind of random road trip stop that can turn into a good memory.
Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro is part of Wald Abenteuer Velbert Langenberg, but this review is mainly about the bistro itself. The official site describes it as the climbing bistro of the park, opened in 2017 after the former Restaurant am Bismarckturm was renovated. The bistro opens on regular climbing park opening days at 10:30, with warm food served from 12:30 until 19:00. After the kitchen closes, drinks, ice cream, cake, and similar items may still be available through the park staff.
Why Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro Worked For Us
The arrival was easy. We could park the car for free without any stress, then walk a short way uphill toward the forest area. That already gave the place a different feeling than a normal snack bar in town. Instead of sitting next to a busy road, you arrive in a green setting with the climbing park around you, the beer garden nearby, and the Bismarckturm as part of the wider location.

The sausage had that classic German fast food feeling, while the fries made it more complete as a proper meal instead of just a quick snack. I also ordered a beer with it, which matched the setting perfectly. This was not a luxury dinner, and it did not need to be. It was the kind of meal that works because it fits the moment.
The menu is broader than only currywurst. Based on the 2026 menu, you can find bratwurst, currywurst, Krakauer, fries in different styles, chicken nuggets, vegan nuggets, burgers, cakes, muffins, pretzels, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and beer. The burger section includes options with beef patties, crispy chicken, falafel, guacamole, chili cheese sauce, and jalapeños. For a climbing park bistro, that is more complete than I expected.
Are The Prices At Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro Expensive?
At first, I had the feeling that the meal was a bit expensive, but after checking the 2026 menu, I think that feeling was not fully fair. Currywurst with fries is listed at €6.90, a bratwurst with fries at €6.50, a small portion of fries at €3.20, and a large portion at €4.20. A Stauder Pils or Radler is €3.00 for 0.33 liter, while Maisel’s Weisse is €4.00 for 0.50 liter.
For a normal town snack bar, you might hope for slightly lower prices, but this is not a basic street corner imbiss. It is located inside a forest adventure setting, next to a climbing park, beer garden, mini golf, and Bismarckturm. In that context, €6.90 for currywurst with fries is reasonable. It feels more like fair destination pricing than tourist trap pricing. The burgers at €11.00 to €12.00 are higher, but still not shocking for a park bistro in Germany in 2026.
The Forest Setting Around Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro
The biggest reason to come here is the setting. The bistro is not just a place to eat, it is part of a larger outdoor area. Wald Abenteuer Velbert Langenberg has an Adventure Parcours for guests from 140 cm, which is 55 inches, and a Kinder Parcours from 105 cm, which is 41 inches. The official park information mentions more than 100 climbing elements, zip lines, Tarzan jumps, a climbing labyrinth, and different courses for children and adults.
Even when you are not climbing, the location still has value. The beer garden gives you a relaxed place to sit after a walk, after sightseeing, or after visiting Altstadt Langenberg. The Bismarckturm can also be climbed on opening days, and the tower offers views toward the Ruhr area. There is also mini golf next to the bistro area, which makes the spot more flexible if you are traveling with family or friends who do not all want the same activity.

For me, Das Baumhaus Kletterbistro is worth recommending because it combines casual German food with a fun outdoor location. Come for the currywurst, stay for the forest, and maybe add the climbing park, mini golf, or Bismarckturm if you want to turn a quick meal into a fuller stop.
