From the moment we arrived, the experience felt smooth and welcoming. The check-in staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which immediately sets the tone after a long travel day. There is a clearance area directly in front of the hotel, making it easy to unload luggage, and plenty of parking available. If you’re arriving with a rental car—very common when traveling in California—this setup is practical and stress-free.

The hotel’s first impression was strong. The exterior looks well-maintained and inviting, and although it’s located close to San Francisco International Airport, the airport presence is barely noticeable. No constant aircraft noise, no hectic surroundings—just a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere for an airport hotel.

One of the biggest surprises was the room itself. It was relatively spacious, especially by airport hotel standards. The layout felt well thought-out, with a clear separation between sleeping and living space.

The room featured a large, comfortable king-size bed, which immediately stood out as one of the highlights of the stay. The living room area included a comfortable couch, a small coffee table, and an extra chair—perfect for relaxing, planning the next travel day, or simply unwinding after a long drive. There was also a dedicated phone for contacting reception directly, which adds a practical, old-school motel touch that still works well.

Storage space was more than sufficient. There were multiple closets and cabinets to store clothes and personal items, which is especially useful if you’re staying more than one night. Pro tip: because there’s so much storage, make sure to double-check everything before checking out—you don’t want to accidentally leave something behind.

If you prefer something different, nearby Walmart, Target, and local supermarkets offer plenty of choices for breakfast items or snacks. You can easily stock up on food and drinks for your stay or your onward journey. In addition to the 24-hour McDonald’s directly across from the hotel, Millbrae is surrounded by a variety of appealing dining options within walking or short driving distance. From classic American diners to Chinese, Icelandic pizza, and Italian cuisine, you have more options than you might expect for an airport area. If you want a relaxed breakfast, the famous Millbrae Pancake House is a local favorite with pancakes and all-day breakfast. Fancy Chinese food? Hubei Restaurant serves popular Chinese classics on El Camino Real, and a little further down the road you’ll find Yan Peninsula (知味轩) for Cantonese dishes and dim sum-style options. For a slightly more upscale evening meal, Hana Izumi is an excellent Japanese option. And that’s just the beginning — there are also cafes, pizza spots, and other international choices within a few minutes’ drive.
