La Table de Spa was one of several lunch options we considered after visiting , a historic landmark right in the heart of Spa. After finding nearby restaurants fully booked, we ended up at La Table de Spa almost by coincidence, settling on the small terrace just around the corner. This La Table de Spa review reflects that unplanned visit, our expectations, and how the experience actually unfolded.
Location and First Impressions of La Table de Spa
La Table de Spa is located on Rue Delhasse, a central street in Spa that naturally attracts tourists and day visitors. The terrace is modest but pleasant, especially on a calm afternoon. From a distance, the restaurant gives the impression of a relaxed Belgian brasserie, casual, accessible, and suitable for a quick lunch.
At first glance, nothing felt off. The tables were occupied, the atmosphere seemed calm, and the menu promised classic brasserie dishes with a seasonal approach. Unfortunately, the initial impression did not fully translate into the experience that followed.
Service Experience, Slow and Distant
Service was the first noticeable weak point during our visit to La Table de Spa. After taking our seats, we waited around ten minutes before a staff member approached us. The interaction itself felt rushed and distant. There was little explanation of the menu, no recommendations, and minimal communication overall.
English communication was extremely limited, which made ordering slightly uncomfortable for non French speakers. While language barriers are understandable in a local Belgian restaurant, the lack of effort to bridge that gap made the experience feel colder than necessary.
After ordering food and drinks, there was another noticeable delay before anything arrived at the table. Throughout the lunch, staff interaction remained minimal, functional at best, and never particularly welcoming.
A Frustrating Moment at the End
The most disappointing moment came when we asked for the bill. After waiting again without success, it became clear that nothing was happening. Eventually, I walked inside the restaurant myself, where I found the server and server chatting and laughing at the bar while the terrace remained full of guests waiting for service.
This moment summed up our La Table de Spa experience. It wasn’t chaotic or hostile, but it felt inattentive and disengaged. For a restaurant in such a tourist heavy town, attentiveness should be a given.

One item worth mentioning are the croquettes, a classic Belgian lunch choice that can still be a solid recommendation if they remain on the menu. These types of dishes fit the brasserie identity well and are likely one of the safer choices for lunch visitors.
While the menu concept itself is not the issue, execution and service consistency play a major role in how enjoyable that food ultimately feels.

Their stated goal is to offer a sincere, seasonal, and generous cuisine in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The ambition behind the restaurant is genuinely positive and easy to appreciate.
The contrast between this philosophy and the actual service experience is what stands out most. The idea is strong, but during our visit, that warmth and generosity did not fully reach the terrace.
Online Feedback and Owner Response
After the visit, feedback was shared via Google Maps. The owner responded politely, acknowledging the experience and stating that improvements are being worked on. The response was friendly and professional, which shows that feedback is taken seriously, at least on a communication level.
That said, based on our personal visit, the issues we experienced felt structural rather than incidental. Slow service, limited engagement, and lack of attentiveness are things that directly impact how welcoming a restaurant feels.
Final Thoughts on La Table de Spa
This La Table de Spa review is not meant as a dismissal of the restaurant. The location is excellent, the menu concept makes sense, and the lunch offerings could be appealing to many visitors. However, based on our experience, we would not personally return.
That doesn’t mean others won’t enjoy it. Service expectations vary, and some guests may have a completely different experience on another day. If you’re nearby, looking for a casual lunch, and willing to keep expectations modest, La Table de Spa might still suit your needs.
For us, however, Spa offers enough alternatives that we would likely choose another spot next time.
